What mast is best for you? - Carbon, Aluminum or D/LAB Duotone & Fanatic - Worthing Watersports

Here is the second video into Duotone and Fanatic mast and fuselages.

This video is more of our advice and experience on what mast length or type of construction you should go for. Including comparability with which fuselages and foils.

AL / Aluminum is the cheapest but heaviest - best for beginners, as you won't be gybing for looking for the best performance

SLS (Carbon) - 20% lighter than aluminum, stiffer, and best for heavier riders, larger wingspan or large surface area foils. Also best for pump/dock starting and downwind supping where stiffness and response is important.

D/LAB / TE / Collab - Lightest and Highest performance in terms of efficiency, speed, and drag reduction. Softest, so best for carving and riding waves when winging. However, not recommended for heavy weights, or larger foils than 1m wide or 1500 area.

Mast Length

600 - for super shallow water or shorter people

750 - for beginners to learn how to control the foil and understand how to ride without too many consequences.

820 - most popular and best all-round (won't breech too frequently, helps keep you in the powerful section of the wave)

900 - for larger waves, freeride, and racing

1000 - racing, speed, and windsurfing
