Duotone are giving every registered Foil Assist owner a free upgrade — a 3-Blade Propeller and matching 3-Blade Hub, shipped to your door at no cost, simply for registering your kit.
We'll cover what's actually in the box, what the upgrade should do for your ride, and a few things worth knowing before you register — including Sam's own take, having already put the current Foil Assist propeller range through its paces.

What's actually landing on your doorstep
If you've registered your Foil Assist system already, this one's simple: Duotone are sending a 3-Blade Propeller and a matching 3-Blade Hub to every registered owner, completely free, with shipping covered. You'll need your mast serial number and a copy of your invoice (PDF, JPEG or PNG) to hand when you fill in the registration form, and Duotone say they'll have everything shipped out in time for Christmas.
Duotone haven't said exactly why they're doing this. It might be a running design change worth rolling out to everyone already on the water, or it might simply be a thank-you to the Foil Assist community before the busy season. Either way, there's no cost and no catch to registering — it just needs doing before 21 November 2026.
The free upgrade — a 3-Blade Propeller and its matching hub, fitted in place of the stock 2-blade set-up.
More thrust, earlier take-offs
Duotone's own numbers on the upgrade: more low-speed thrust, more torque at lower RPM, and improved acceleration off the start. In practice that should mean:
- Earlier take-offs, with less of a fight to get up on foil
- More responsive power delivery through the remote
- A little extra runtime per charge
Worth being clear on the material, because it isn't stated outright in Duotone's own campaign: this is not the aluminium SLS 3-Blade system we already sell as a paid performance upgrade. Everything about how it's being given away — free, no premium positioning, shipped as a goodwill gesture — points to a durable moulded plastic, the same family as the 2-blade propeller that comes fitted as standard on every Foil Assist kit. We'll confirm the exact material once a set lands with us.
More thrust, earlier take-offs, a little extra runtime — Duotone's pitch for the 3-Blade upgrade.
Sam's take, before he's even ridden them
Sam's already put the current Foil Assist propeller range through a proper back-to-back test in UK conditions — stock plastic 2-blade, SLS aluminium 2-blade, and the SLS aluminium 3-blade (you can read the full propeller test here). The plastic 2-blade came out smooth and very forgiving — exactly what you want while you're still finding your feet. The metal SLS 3-blade, on the other hand, turned out to be a lot of propeller for a lighter rider: brilliant for anyone 80kg and up, but enough low-end punch at Sam's weight (70–72kg) to lift the nose faster than he could counter and put him in the water.
This free upgrade is a genuinely new variable: a 3-blade propeller in the same forgiving plastic as the stock blades, rather than stiff aluminium. If the material behaves the way the 2-blade plastic does, it could land somewhere interesting — more pick-up than the standard 2-blade, without the sharp, weight-dependent power delivery that caught Sam out on the metal 3-blade. We'll get a set on the water and report back properly once they're here.
Could the free hub be your way into the metal blades later?
One worth asking Duotone directly, but it's a promising thought: on the existing SLS metal 3-blade system, the hub (or “mount”) and the blades are already sold as two separate parts on our shop — the mount on its own, and the three SLS blades on their own. If this free plastic hub turns out to be the same physical mount, anyone who claims it now could potentially skip buying the mount again later and go straight for the SLS blades on their own when they're ready to go full metal. We'd check this against your own kit once your upgrade arrives before ordering anything — but if it holds up, it's a genuinely good reason to register even if you've no plans to use the plastic blades long-term.
💡 Sam's Tip
Have your mast serial number and your invoice (PDF, JPEG or PNG) ready before you open the registration form — it asks for both in one go, and it's a faff hunting for your invoice halfway through. It's free, it's a genuine Duotone offer, and there's no reason not to register even if you end up sticking with your stock propeller day to day.
The Foil Assist propeller range at a glance
| Propeller | Material | Feel | Best for |
| 2-Blade (standard) | Plastic | Smooth, very forgiving | Beginners, lighter riders, learning throttle control |
| 3-Blade (free upgrade) | Plastic (unconfirmed) | Untested by us — expect more pick-up than 2-blade plastic | Registered owners wanting a free performance step up |
| 2-Blade SLS | Aluminium | Noticeably more thrust, still controllable | Intermediate to advanced riders, up to roughly 95kg |
| 3-Blade SLS | Aluminium | Huge low-end power, sharp delivery | Heavier riders (75kg+) and small-foil performance set-ups |
