Few-words-from-Lewis-Crathern-about-Duotone-Rebel SLS 2024 - Worthing Watersports

Sometimes one photograph can define what you love to do. This one here taken in Worthing by Eunice Bergin is that one. Kiteboarding in gale force winds and boosting as high as I can throwing a big Megaloop. It is the most exhilarating feeling in kiteboarding to me and one that has defined my career.

Over the last years I have taken some time to try all different shapes of kites. Different shapes are for different people, styles and disciplines within the sport. I wanted to gain a better understanding of more of the range my sponsor Duotone have to offer. From the Vegas to the Dice, EVO SLS and now Rebel SLS my all round knowledge is where I want it to be. This is especially important when coaching and being part of weekend demo's where the public get to try everything.

Here I am with the new 2024 Duotone Rebel, the above image shot by Howard Kearley in Littlehampton. This was the second time I have used this kite. To be upside down in this position in gale force wind, exposing your kite to what's known as the 'power zone' takes confidence. You pilot the kite almost blindly for part of this move. It is a feeling.

There are many old cliche sayings in kiteboarding for when one feels good on a new kite, "I always know where the kite is" coming to mind. For me this journey of exploration has changed my perspective on why sometimes something new feels so good, so right.

I think that the overwhelmingly positive feelings that you are having are sometimes reminding you of the best ones from the past. Moments and memories where you felt at the complete top of your game are being recreated and perhaps even replaced. Excitement towards what you have discovered lasts for days and weeks and you look forwards to the next experience.

I am completely at home with this kite and can't wait to seem what more I can do with it. I have no doubt that a new British height record is coming with this kite....
