Duotone Glide 3.0 (2027) Review — The Highest Aspect Foil Yet | Worthing Watersports

The Duotone Glide 3.0 is here for 2027, and it's now the highest aspect foil in the whole Duotone range. Nik Baker's been out on it for our video review, and this post covers what's actually changed — not just the marketing version.

The Glide has always been the efficiency foil in the line-up: built for downwind runs and flat water blasting, where minimal drag matters more than anything else. For 2027, Duotone have pushed the aspect ratio up again, which sharpens that identity — last year's Glide sat a bit closer to the rest of the range, and this one doesn't.

The catch with any high aspect foil is control — they can get twitchy. The Glide 3.0 borrows some of the Crest and Curve's "moustache" profile at the front to deal with that, and it's more efficient than last year's model, so you can size down too.

Why higher aspect actually works this time

Aspect ratio is the whole point of the Glide — the higher it is, the more efficient the foil, and the less drag you're fighting. That's exactly what you want for downwinding and flat water, where you're trying to cover distance with the least possible effort, not for turning tightly.

The trade-off has always been control — high aspect foils get twitchy. The Glide 3.0 takes the moustache-style curvature from the Crest and the latest Curve and applies it here, and it noticeably calms the ride down without giving back the glide. It's also more efficient than last year's Glide across the board, which means most riders can go a size down and still get the same performance.

D/LAB or SLS — which one to buy

Both share the same high aspect design and moustache profile. The D/LAB is the lighter, stiffer, more direct construction, and runs from 600cm² up to 1100cm². The SLS is the more accessible build, and extends further into the bigger sizes — up to 1400cm² — which is where the Glide really opens up for light wind. The 1400 is a genuinely big foil, built for sub-10 knot wing foiling, paired with something like a Ventis or a large D/LAB wing such as the Unit, and it works with both the Float and the Unit boards.

Crest or Glide — which foil should I buy?

This is the question we get asked most, so here's the honest answer. The Crest is a wave-oriented foil — easy to use, playful, and designed to bank and turn on waves. The Glide 3.0 is the opposite instinct: it's built for long distance, minimal turning, and pure glide. If you're powering downwind, doing SUP foiling, or wing foiling in super light wind and want maximum efficiency, the Glide is the one. If you want something loose and fun on a wave, the Crest is still the answer.

💡 Sam's Tip

Because this year's Glide is more efficient than the old one, don't just reorder your old size out of habit — most riders can comfortably go a size down and get the same lift and glide.
