Duotone kite surfboards from the UK's Duotone specialist: the 2027 Duotone Whip, Volt, Blur and Provoke, in SLS and D/LAB construction. Every board comes with matching Futures-compatible fins and a tail pad, and any of them can take foot straps. We ride these boards on the South Coast, from knee-high Worthing slop to big winter swell, so we'll help you pick the right shape and size.
Which Duotone surfboard is right for you?
- Duotone Whip SLS 2027 and Whip D/LAB 2027 (4'11", 5'1", 5'3"): our best-selling board, and the one with the widest range of conditions. A hybrid shape with slightly more parallel rails, it's forgiving and does a bit of everything. It started life as a strapless freestyle board, but with more rocker it now works brilliantly in waves too. If you only own one kite surfboard, make it a Whip.
- Duotone Volt SLS 2027 and Volt D/LAB 2027 (4'11", 5'1", 5'3"): built for European conditions. For small waves, roughly below waist or shoulder high, the Volt has extra volume in the tail and front foot area to plane early and hold its speed through turns. It's a great choice for bigger riders too. Think of it as a higher-performance version of the old Duotone Fish that now handles much bigger waves than the Fish ever did.
- Duotone Blur SLS 2027 and Blur D/LAB 2027 (5'3", 5'6", 5'9"): the dedicated wave board for bigger surf. A pointed nose and more rocker let you drop down steep faces without catching the nose, and the round tail holds grip through hard turns. When the sea is big and rough and you want maximum control, it's the Blur. It takes the place of the old Wam and Session in the range. Not the easiest board for beginners, but perfect if you know what you're looking for.
- Duotone Provoke 2027 (5'1"): a dedicated strapless freestyle board with a parallel outline, wide tail for pop and channels for stable landings.
SLS or D/LAB?
Each shape is the same board in two constructions. SLS is lower priced and feels a little more rigid and direct, with a cork shock absorber and Innegra Shield. Heavier riders often prefer it because they get stronger, more direct feedback. D/LAB is lighter, with carbon construction and an RMF memory-foam deck that pushes heel dents back out over time. It's more forgiving and comfortable through chop, which lighter riders especially love.
What you need to add
- A front traction pad. Surfboards come with a tail pad but no front pad, so add a Duotone Traction Pad Front 2027 for your front foot.
- Foot straps (optional). Any Duotone surfboard can now take foot straps. You need the Duotone Foot Strap Insert Traction Pad set, which replaces the middle of the front pad, so you still buy the front pad as well. Fit the inserts before you ride and leave them 24 to 48 hours to bond.
- Optional upgrade: the Traction Pad Pro Back for extra back-foot grip on the Whip, Volt and Provoke.
