Under New Ownership - Worthing Watersports

In 2021 Mike and Sam agreed upon the the sale of Worthing Watersports.

A few words from Mike:

"Well .... this is the big Adios .... after 36 years in this business its time to say goodbye .... We had 9 super years running a windsurfing business on a gravel pit in Cambridge .. Teaching beginners ( Sue ) , Hiring, Day Sailing, Annual Memberships and retailing the fantastic product that was Tiga & NeilPryde ... then another brilliant 11 years in Kent, Peter Gordon-Smith sold us his windsurfing retail shop ... it was a fantastic move, the shop sold every windsurf product .. Tiga, Mistra, F2 , Fanatic, BIC and later JP/AHD/Tabou ... Sails from Tushingham, NeilPryde, North, Naish, Gaastra .... they were great times and we met loads of really good friends up on Minster Beach on the Isle of Sheppey .... then we decided to up sticks and relocate to Sunny and Windy Worthing for our longest stay ... 16 years .. we moved to Worthing because it was and still is a genuinely windy place, apart from normal weather fronts it also develops amazing Sea Breezes throughout the summer months and after 20 years our love was still windsurfing ( and still is ) ... over the last 16 years we have had to develop the shop products and have introduced Sit-on-top kayaking, dinghy sailing stock, Kitesurfing ( in a small way ) paddle boarding and more recently Wing/foiling .... and of course as we live by the seaside ... buckets + spades etc 🙂 ....... but now its time for us to go .... the shop 'will' continue as the best Water Sports shop in the area ... still fully stocked and ready to go. The new owner will already be known to quite a few of you, Sam Latham for many years has been an established windsurfer of great ability but also a very talented kitesurfer, paddle boarder and wing/foiler ... so an all round waterman really. Sam and his partner Lucy will be in the shop from Wednesday this week and Sue and I wish them every best for the future and hopefully the support we have had over the last 16 years will continue for them. On a final note we would just like to give a big big thanks to a few icons of the British windsurfing world ... we have had a few ups and downs with some of them but for the most part they supported, promoted and encouraged us so big thanks to ... Gordon Way Graeme Fuller Dave White Nik Green Nik Baker Wouter Ardern Guy Chilvers and all the rest that I have missed out and finally a massive massive thanks to all our customers and friends that have supported us over these 36 years ... you have all been great ........ See you on the beach sometime.
