Duotone Skate D/LAB 2027 — Same Shape, Much Tougher Board

The Skate D/LAB is an interesting one, because Duotone have done the opposite of what you'd expect. The shapes are unchanged — no complaints there, the Skate is the freestyle board — but it now comes in full D/LAB construction.

Normally D/LAB means "lighter". Here they've deliberately spent the construction gain on making the board more durable instead. For a board that spends its life being landed on flat and dropped in shallow water, that's the right decision, even if it doesn't make for as exciting a headline.

Full custom, and yours

Because it's made to order in Full Custom D/LAB technology, it's CNC shaped using Duotone's highest-end layup and finished by hand — the same process as a high-end custom board. You choose the colour scheme and it carries a unique serial number. The shapes are Duotone's own proven ones, so unlike a true one-off custom you know exactly what you're getting, and so does whoever buys it from you in three years.

The Idol LTD sail also releases today, alongside the Cosmic (3) and (4) D/LAB wave boards. The Idol LTD brings a new BATTEN FREE CENTRE and LIGHT DONE RIGHT construction — 200 to 300g lighter than a conventional design without thinning the main panel film, so it builds power smoothly, goes dead-neutral through a duck, and reloads clean on the way out. The Super_Hero D/LAB — Duotone's established flagship wave sail — is also part of today's line-up alongside this Skate.
