2026 Wing Review · Worthing Watersports
The Duotone Float V2 2026 is here — and if you've been riding the Unit and wondering whether there's a better option for waves and downwinding, this is the video and blog post you need. Sam and the Worthing Watersports team put the Float V2 through its paces alongside the Duotone Unit, with on-the-water footage from Sam, Lee, Pastie Harvey and our shop riders to show you exactly what sets these two wings apart.
The Unit is one of the best-selling freeride wings on the market for good reason — but the Float V2 has a very specific place in the lineup, and for the right rider it's a significantly better choice. Here's everything you need to know.

The Duotone Unit — Why It Sells So Well
There's no denying the Unit's popularity. It's a brilliant all-round freeride wing — comfortable, versatile, and available in Standard, SLS and D/LAB constructions to suit a range of budgets and riding styles. For flat water freeriding and general use, it's hard to beat.
But when it comes to wave riding and downwinding, the Unit does have its limitations. That's exactly where the Float V2 steps in.
Why the Float V2 is the Better Wave Wing
Balanced, level and neutral in the air — The Float V2 is designed to be parked cleanly. When you're riding waves and need both hands free, you need a wing that sits level and balanced without pulling or dropping. The Float delivers this in a way the Unit simply doesn't.
No window — and here's why that's a good thing — The Float V2 does not have a window. This is a deliberate design choice. The window on the Unit adds weight and complexity to that section of the canopy. The Float's cleaner construction in that area contributes to its superior balance and handling when parked. Once you understand the reason, it makes complete sense.
Purpose-built for downwinding — On the water footage from our Morocco trip demonstrates just how stable and controlled the Float V2 is when downwinding. It sits in the air predictably, giving you the confidence to focus on reading the swell rather than managing your wing.
Improved freeride and tacking — The V2 isn't just a step forward for wave riding. The updated design also improves its freeride performance and tacking characteristics over the original Float, making it a more well-rounded weapon even when the waves aren't firing.
"For anyone riding waves or downwinding — the Float V2 is the wing. It parks better, handles better, and lets you focus entirely on the water beneath you."
— Sam, Worthing Watersports
Float V2 vs Float V1 — What's Changed?
This is the second generation of the Duotone Float. The V2 brings meaningful refinements over the original — improved balance when parked, better tacking performance, and the introduction of the SLS construction option. If you're riding the original Float and wondering whether the upgrade is worth it, the answer is yes.
Float STD vs Float SLS — Which One?
Float STD — The standard construction Float V2 is the entry point into this wing. Excellent performance, great value, and everything you need for wave riding and downwinding at a more accessible price point.
Float SLS — The SLS construction brings a key upgrade: a smaller diameter leading edge. This reduces weight and swing weight, making the wing feel even more agile and responsive in the air. It's the premium option and priced accordingly — but for riders who want the absolute best from the Float platform, the SLS is the one.
