Segmented Cross-Section Technology
A quantum leap in weight, stiffness, durability and grip ergonomics. With weights between 1.85 and 3.10 kg (depending on length), the Platinum SLS are the lightest booms on the market apart from Duotone’s own Platinum AERO booms. Instead of the usual round cross section, the boom has a sophisticated transition of different cross sections: the square front section, with its massive wall thickness, increases stiffness by approx. 30%, and the oval tail section increases lateral stiffness by another 30%. The oval tail also reduces tail weight, which through the leverage effect makes the boom feel much lighter in your hands (sailing weight).
Gripping Diameter: Grip Comfort vs. Stiffness
The thinner the diameter in the gripping area, the more comfortable and less tiring it is to hold on to, but the softer the boom becomes. The enormous stiffness generated in the front and back allows smaller diameters than any other boom in the gripping area. Together with the oval inside grip section this gives unmatched gripping comfort and reduced fatigue – sail longer with no more cramped forearms.

Discipline-Specific Bend Curves
All bend curves are designed to let your front and back arm sit in a natural, ergonomic position, which varies with the type of sail (wave, freeride, race). The 140 Mega Slim and 160 lengths have the new New School 2.0 bend curve, which combines a straight new-school curve (no overstretching of the front hand) with a performance-oriented curve (wider distance between the tubes in the centre so the sail profile is not distorted). The 170 and 190 use the tried-and-tested race curves that have proven themselves in countless race victories over the last decade.

Protection Grip Insert
High-density EVA grip inserts on the outside front arch for maximum abrasion resistance during rigging.
External Tail Fittings
External tail fittings offer three main advantages over integrated fittings: lower weight, a stronger tail end with no weak points in the mould, and they can be exchanged.
Individual Tail Fittings
The 140 and 160 sizes come with the patented VTS TAIL fitting, which visually indicates the correct outhaul tension (Duotone sail required). The 170 and 190 sizes come with the iTAIL RACE fitting, which allows loop-loop-go (the fastest way to rig your outhaul) even when used with an adjustable outhaul system.
Triangle Bearing Construction
Bearings between the rotational front end and the monocoque carbon body stop the front end from grinding down the carbon, which ultimately leads to a broken boom.
2 Year Unconditional Warranty
Duotone is fully convinced that the Platinum SLS booms are virtually indestructible and backs this up with a 2 year unconditional warranty. Carbon booms are expensive, but the Platinum SLS might very well be the last boom you ever buy.

This product qualifies for a 2 year unconditional warranty. To secure the extended cover, please register your product with Duotone within 30 days of purchase at duotonesports.com (Warranty Registration). Otherwise only the legal warranty period can be granted.
