Duotone E_Pace SLS Review - Worthing Watersports
Blasting comfortably has to be the essence of windsurfing we all desire.
Coming from a racing background, non-cammed sails never used to excite me that much. But having dedicated my time to waves and winging I miss and have been craving classic blasting. But would never re-invest back into full-cammed sails.
We all know the Fanatic Blast is an epic board, I used an older blast many years ago with a wave sail and absolutely loved it. But being a lighter sailor, (74kg) I have always found non-cammed sails to not handle the top end very well.
When I got the opportunity to try a sample and test SLS sail in Italy at a board and more dealers meeting, I was super excited to re-live the core of windsurfing and see how the equipment has progressed.
The second sail I use in this video (red luff) is a 7.8 prototype. This is quite a big sail for me, but my god was it powerful, yet controllable. More controllable even in the gusts than I have felt in other and older rotational sails. - The INTELLIGENT CARBON XPLY panel just above the clew really releases the leach like never before.
It is just lighter, more forgiving, and more comfortable. Because of this, the wind range is massive; exactly what you want from a free-ride sail. Not a lot of people have full quivers of these types of sails. A lot of people add maybe one or two free-ride sails on top of their wave gear. A big wind range for that one large sail is super important to enjoy lots of conditions.
Everyone is always nervous about a lightweight sail being less durable or cut back in some way. Well, all of the Duotone SLS range comes with 5 years warranty. The quality is there!
I am super excited about these sails arriving and being able to enjoy evening blasting sessions in sea breezes.
