When you think of wind and wave spots in Brazil, it’s usually the famous locations in the northeast that come to mind — places like Fortaleza, Cumbuco, or Jericoacoara. But for their latest adventure, the Duotone team went off the beaten track, heading south to explore the hidden gems of Ibiraquera — the perfect testing ground for their latest wave wing, the Duotone Float.
At Worthing Watersports, we love seeing gear tested in real conditions by the best riders in the world, and this trip delivered exactly that.
Exploring Southern Brazil – A Wing Foiler’s Dream
The Duotone team included some of the biggest names in the sport — Nia Suardiaz, Wesley Brito, Finn Spencer fresh from the GWA Wave World Tour finals, and Stefan Spiessberger. They were also joined for some epic sessions by Tom Auber and Yann Rifflet.
For many of the riders, this was their first time wing foiling in Ibiraquera — a location that offered something totally different from the typical Brazilian kite spots. With long-running left-hand waves, side-offshore winds, and uncrowded beaches, southern Brazil proved to be a wing foiling paradise.
Testing the New Duotone Float Wing
The trip was all about pushing the new Duotone Float Wing to its limits in real-world wave conditions. Designed specifically for wave riding, the Float Wing offers a stripped-back feel, letting riders focus on carving, linking turns, and staying in the pocket of the wave.
Finn Spencer summed it up perfectly:
“We had perfect long-running lefts with side-offshore wind — great for drawn-out carves and airs on the end sections. It was challenging, but so rewarding.”
Nia Suardiaz also highlighted the value of spending time with riders like Finn and Wesley:
“Foiling in Ibiraquera was an incredible experience. I learnt so much from both of them — it was so much fun!”
