UKWA April
2026

Season opener, international action & a packed calendar ahead — here's everything you need to know.

— Race Report

Cup Event 1 — Stokes Bay

The 2026 UKWA season got underway at Stokes Bay on 18–19 April in classic British fashion — light and shifty winds that kept the race team and competitors on their toes throughout the weekend. Despite the tricky conditions, racing got underway and delivered a solid season opener with a great mix of formats across both days.

Saturday saw three races for Techno and Raceboard/LT Windsurfer, while Foil, iQFOiL and Wing riders completed four races across course racing and slalom. Sunday morning brought four more races for the Techno and Raceboard fleets, followed by a couple of slalom races for the foiling and wing classes to close out the weekend.

The Saturday evening social was a brilliant way to open the season — the sailing club bar was open, an evening meal was laid on, and it was great to see the windsurfing community catching up after the winter. Exactly the kind of evening that makes this sport what it is.

Thank You, Volunteers

Huge thanks to the sailing club for their hospitality, and to everyone who kept things running in those ever-shifting conditions. Onshore: Bob, Sue, Jon, Yvonne, Brian & Ann. On the water: Tessa, Maggie, Dave, James, Phil, Al and Ben. Thanks also to the coaches and our sponsors.
