Duotone Wing Foiling 2027 — The Unit Gets an 82g Aluula Gold Frame

The headline number for 2027 is 82 grams. That's the weight of the full Aluula Gold frame in the new Unit D/LAB, and it tells you where Duotone have spent their effort this year.

Around it sits a properly busy range update — refreshed Sky Style and Skybrid boards, the Skybrid D/LAB in Hollow Shell composite, new Glide 3.0 and Crest SLS front wings, a tool-free Quickmount mast, and Monobloc tails spreading across the D/LAB line.

The Unit — lighter frame, shorter strut, slimmer leading edge

The Unit D/LAB (3.5–6.5m) gets the full Aluula Gold frame at 82g, plus a reduced leading edge diameter for more speed and efficiency. All three Units share a shorter strut this year, which makes them noticeably more compact in the hand and improves flagging stability — the thing you care about the moment you're trying to get back on the board in chop.

The Unit SLS (2.0–6.5m) runs a PentaTX frame with an Aluula Gold centre panel, so you get most of the stiffness gain at a much friendlier price, along with increased low-end power and more direct response. It also comes as a Concept Blue version in undyed fabric. The standard Unit covers the same 2.0–6.5m spread with smooth power delivery and refined canopy tension.

Across all three: the new MOD3s canopy for better draft stability and durability, moulded mini batten pockets, a wide leading-edge handle for surfing, a new window layout that's actually easier to see through, and the Fusion Boom and Handle option so you can set it up either way. Ventis SLS in 7.0 and 8.0m covers light wind, and the Float family arrives in spring 2027.

Skybrid D/LAB — 2kg lighter than the SLS

The Skybrid D/LAB (5'5" 60l up to 6'1" 100l) uses Hollow Shell composite construction, which cuts over 2kg off the total board weight for most sizes compared with the SLS. The effect is a board that pumps and responds like something much smaller than its volume suggests, with the earliest release and the lowest swing weight in the range. It's built for freeride, freefly and parawing, with a diamond tail, recessed deck and extended carbon tracks. The Skybrid SLS covers the same sizes with a midlength shape, moderate rocker and long carbon tracks.

Sky Style, Trace and the rest of the boards

The Sky Style SLS spans 4'2" 30l to 5'4" 95l with a step tail for early take-off and explosive pop, a compact outline for low swing weight and a high rocker line for jump clearance. The Sky Style gives you the same shape in vacuum sandwich construction for a lot less money. The Trace SLS is the dedicated wave board, with a pointy nose that cuts swing weight and copes better with whitewater.

On the inflatable side, Skybrid Air and Sky Air both come with a travel bag and multi pump included, and the Sky Start DST has a new step tail that makes crawling onto the board and releasing onto the foil far less of an event for a beginner. For downwind and parawing there's the Downwinder Slim D/LAB, Paradox SLS and Midfish, and the Crush SLS covers prone in 4'2" and 4'5".

Glide 3.0, Crest SLS and a mast you don't need tools for

The Glide 3.0 D/LAB (600–1100cm²) and Glide 3.0 SLS (825–1400cm²) are high-aspect wings built for glide and efficiency, but with a Crest-inspired profile that gives them real low-end power and easy pumping, and upturned tips for breaching control. The Crest SLS brings proven Crest performance into a more accessible construction across 800 to 1200cm².

The Mast SLS 2.0 QM adds a tool-free Quickmount system that works with existing Duotone Quickmount base plates, and the aluminium AL 3BS masts now carry the AL 3BS+ connection, so compatibility across the foil range is much better than it used to be. The Monobloc Tail H and Monobloc Tail F join the D/LAB line in September — one-piece carbon tail and stab, lowest drag available, most fluid turning response.

💡 Sam's Tip

The Unit SLS is the one I'd point most people at. You get the Aluula Gold centre panel and the same canopy, handles and strut changes as the D/LAB, for a lot less. Put the difference into the foil instead — a Glide 3.0 will change your sessions more than 80 grams of frame will. And if you're picking a first board, the Sky Start DST's new step tail makes the crawl-on-and-go part genuinely easier.
