Duotone Foil Range - What's The Difference?! - Worthing Watersports

What is the difference between the Duotone Foil Range?

Sam gets asked this question all the time in the store and on the phone. So, I decided to do a video explaining the differences in their shapes and what the shape differences feel like in the water when riding.

Sam breaks down the concept of aspect ratio, a crucial factor in the feel and sensation of the Duotone Foil Range. This practical understanding can guide you in making an informed choice that aligns with your water sports needs. He also delves into the practical implications of both high and low-aspect duotone foils, discussing their Advantages and Disadvantages.

Which Duotone Foil is best for me?

When it comes to choosing the right Duotone Foil, it's crucial to consider your own abilities, body weight, the prevailing conditions, and the style of wing foiling you aspire to. This personalised approach is key to finding the perfect fit for you.

In this video, Sam highlights the positives of the Duotone Aero Free. It is a mid-aspect foil that covers all bases for beginners and advanced riders. You just cannot go wrong with a mid-aspect foil.

The Duotone Carve 2.0 is the latest wave foil from Duotone. It is the lowest aspect of the range and allows the user to carve aggressively due to its strong shape. It is also the best foil for jumping & freestyle due to its aggressive lift. However, although it has great low stall speed, it does not have great glide, therefor it is recommended to use this foil in bigger waves.

Is the Duotone Whizz or Duotone Glide best for light wind?

Sam covers the difference between Whizz and Glide from his first-hand experience. They both have their pros and Cons, but Sam believes it comes down to the user's ability and the conditions you intend to use these foils in. The Duotone Glide is a bit easier to use and is also more comfortable on flat water. However, the Duotone Whizz is a great light wind powerful foil that is easy to pump but tends to want to carve and turn. So, it is considered a great foil for light wind winging in small to medium-sized waves. Foils explained in this video
