Sam the owner of Worthing Watersports, has been in North Devon testing Duotone foils for prone-foiling.
In this video, I explain my thoughts on the difference between the Duotone Whizz and Duotone Glide 2.0. I am mainly focusing on prone foiling but I also explain my views on using these foils for wing foiling too.
In my opinion, if you are getting into prone or foil drive, the whizz is easier to use and should be your first option. The Duotone glide 2.0 is harder to use in smaller, unbroken waves. Because it needs more speed to maintain lift.
However, if you have good pump technique, you will be able to use the glide in these small, unbroken swells. The Whizz's slower stall speed allows people with less-than-perfect technique to ride unbroken or mushy swells more easily. When the swell starts to ramp up and break, then both foils work very well.
Duotone Whizz is easier to get feedback from pumping Whizz is slower Whizz has great carve and roll-turn Duotone Glide 2.0 Glide 2.0 faster, less drag so pumping gets you further. Pumping is slightly harder to get lift, you have to maintain speed, so its harder to pump.
Because you are going faster, the glide feels less stable, but I think its because you are carving more at higher speeds. Which makes the foil feel more sensitive/twitchy.
However, if you can The glide has more potential, but you need to be confident and have a higher level of experience to use it in waves-prone foiling. I was comparing the 1000 whizz to the 900 glide, so the larger whizz foil would always be slower and easier to pump. I feel the whizz is more stable and the right foil for most prone-foiling. You just have to accept that you may not be able to pump back out. The Duotone Whizz isn't comfortable freeriding while winging because you are putting pressure on the foil from an angle.
When prone-foiling, you are straight, and your weight is central, so it doesn't roll. The Duotone Glide is better for freeride winging.
