UKWA's October newsletter is in, and it's a genuinely stacked one — a 13-race National Championship, a tight weekend of racing at Cup 7 in Portland, Tiree producing some of the best wave sailing anyone's seen in years, and Weymouth Speed Week saving its windiest day for last. It's the kind of month that makes staring at a forecast feel entirely justified.
We're not UKWA, so we'll point you to them for the full write-ups and results — but a month with this much racing and this many speed records is exactly the kind of thing that gets us talking about our own race kit, so we've rounded up the headlines below and put the relevant gear at the bottom.
Wittering is still to come too — entries are in, and it'll run either this weekend or 13–15th November depending on conditions, so keep an eye on UKWA's events page for the final call.

Nationals and Cup 7 — the racing recap
The national wind sports championships ran across multiple courses and got through 13 races in a mixed bag of conditions — by all accounts a proper test of the fleet rather than a one-note wind day. Cup 7 at Portland followed with 7 races over the weekend and some genuinely tight racing throughout the series.
Full results for both are on UKWA's events page, including the overall series standings from Portland.

Tiree went off, and Wittering's still to come
The BWA event at Tiree is the one everyone's still talking about — international names on it, Ben Profitt taking the British title, and Eddie Maclean sailing some of the best wave sailing of his season. Ruaridh Somerville was out there covering it with JC on photo duty, and the full write-up is worth your time if you want the detail a newsletter summary can't do justice to.
Wittering is the other one on the radar — entries are in, and depending on how the next couple of weeks shape up it'll either run this coming weekend or get pushed to 13–15th November. Check UKWA's site for the final date once it's confirmed.
Weymouth Speed Week, and a new name on top of the world rankings
Weymouth Speed Week did what Weymouth Speed Week always seems to do — held the best wind back for the final day. Scotty Stallman took the event overall with a 35.85-knot run over 500 metres, which is about as good an advert for turning up on the last day of an event as you'll get.
And while that was happening, Jim Crossley was quietly putting together a 46.85-knot run over 500 metres that currently has him leading the world GPS speed rankings outright. Worth watching where that ranking is sitting by the time the season properly wraps up.

💡 Sam's Tip
Reading about 46-knot runs and tight slalom racing is one thing, having the kit for it is another — we've got Duotone's actual race range in stock: the Warp_Fin cammed sail and the Falcon_Fin D/LAB board, both built specifically for slalom and speed rather than adapted from a freeride shape. If you're sizing up for next season, get in touch before you order — sail and board size need to be matched properly, and it's a lot easier to get right over a phone call than guessing from a size chart.
